From the steering Board Committee

On May 10, 2019, the Steering board of the Oil & Gas Reinvented Community gathered to discuss the upcoming event on June 27 2019 EMBRACING THE ENERGY TRANSITION:
FROM OUR BACK YARD TO THE NORTH SEA?

This event will take place at RDM Campus in Rotterdam.
Our timing for this topic seems to be good. Recently, there has been a lot of attention for the governance of the Dutch part of the North Sea but also the UK, Belgium, France, Germany and Norway.
It’s a busy part of the world with various functions which may be in competition for the use of space, but that may sometimes have the potential for synergies between and outside our borders.

It always a challenge to get the speakers, keynote speakers and panel members.
During our steering board meeting we got the conformation of Huub den Rooijen, CEO of The Crown Estate.

In this event we will focus on the North Sea as the new playground for energy transition. Oil and Gas production is in decline and offshore wind is booming. New ideas and technology will bring functions for e.g. Energy storage, Power to x (for e.g. Hydrogen Ammonia), algue farms, new infrastructures like energy Island, Airport in the sea and or hybrid solutions .
Regarding the several working groups there is a discussion about which of the groups are most active and most successful and in which cases there is some doubt because of limited apparent interest.

We will continuously be evaluating this and also ask you to convey your own views on this if you have them. As an example we had to cancel the session on geothermal energy and CCUS.
One of the reason there is already another CCUS event, CATO on June 26 2019.

There is great interest for our new group on ‘Community Engagement’ which we just started and developing a complete program.
We consider to start new working groups like Hydrogen, New materials, 3D printing.
If you have idea’s please let us know!

The steering board will discuss the future ambitions and activities of the Oil and Gas Reinvented Community during a strategy meeting in July. We will discuss our ambitions, but also the interconnections with other initiatives on the energy transition in the EU and how to maximize the effectiveness and potential collaborations. We also consider to install advisory board.

We are already busy with the preparation to support the World Petroleum Council event in Q1 2020. This event will be facilitated by KPMG.

Finally we discussed the first preparation for our next main event – Embracing the Energy transition - Energy infrastructures in the public space: what’s in it for us? November 7 2019, location Shell Technology Center Amsterdam

We are looking forward to meeting you on our next event in June 27, meanwhile happy to receiving your feedback or comments via rene@oilandgasreinvented.com, or contact Connie for any questions you may have on Oil and Gas Reinvented via connie@oilandgasreinvented.com.

Best regards,

Jan Prins on behalf of the Steering Committee Oil & Gas Reinvented
